In the Hong Kong Super Sixes final held in Mong Kok, Sri Lanka defeated Pakistan by 3 wickets to win the title for the second time.
After winning the toss, Sri Lanka opted to field first. Pakistan’s innings struggled right from the start, with two early dismissals in the opening over.
Mohammad Ikhlaq was the only batter from Pakistan who managed to withstand the Sri Lankan bowlers, scoring a solid 48 runs. Other batters struggled to make an impact, as captain Faheem Ashraf scored 13, Aamir Yamin made 6, Asif Ali was dismissed for zero, and Hussain Talat added just 1 run.
The Green Shirts were bowled out for a total of 72 runs in the allotted 6 overs.
From Sri Lanka’s side, Dhananjaya Lakshan and Tharindu Rathnayake each claimed 2 wickets.
In pursuit of the 73-run target, Sri Lanka began cautiously and managed to reach the goal with an over to spare, losing only 3 wickets in the process.
Sri Lanka’s Sandun Weerakkody led with a score of 34, Dhananjaya Lakshan contributed 2, and captain Lahiru Madushanka scored 19. Faheem Ashraf was Pakistan’s top bowler, taking 2 wickets.
