In the U.S. presidential election, over 75 million voters have already cast their ballots.
According to the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), over 75 million (7.5 crore) voters have used their right to vote early in the U.S. presidential election set for November 5.
Data from the University of Florida’s Election Lab reveals that 41 million people voted in person at polling stations, while 34 million cast their votes through postal ballots or email voting.
Early Voting System in the U.S.
In U.S. elections, voters are allowed to cast their votes before election day. However, the process of early voting is determined by each state’s local government, and procedures may differ from state to state.
In some states, voters must go to polling stations set up by election officials to vote early. At these stations, voters are provided with a ballot paper to select their preferred candidate.
In other states, voters can vote early through email. They receive a ballot paper in their registered email, mark their choice, and send it back to the election commission via email.
It is noteworthy that the U.S. presidential election will be held on November 5, with the main contest expected between Republican candidate Donald Trump and Democratic candidate Kamala Harris.
