George and Amal Clooney, Penélope Cruz, Robert Pattinson and a new generation of stars bring high-fashion glamour to the Lido as Venice once again becomes an early showcase for awards-season style.
VENICE, Italy — The 2026 Venice Film Festival has arrived on the Lido, bringing with it 10 days of premieres, awards-season speculation and one of the film calendar’s most closely watched fashion showcases.
Hollywood stars are expected to arrive by boat for the festival’s famous red carpets, with George and Amal Clooney, Penélope Cruz, Robert Pattinson and Patrick Schwarzenegger among the names scheduled to make appearances. While the films remain at the center of the event, the clothes worn before the photographers have become an increasingly important part of the Venice spectacle.
The festival has developed into a major platform for fashion houses seeking global attention ahead of the autumn and awards seasons. Last year, Julia Roberts made headlines after lending Amanda Seyfried a Dario Vitale-designed Versace suit, while Ayo Edebiri appeared in a custom red strapless Chanel gown that offered an early glimpse of Matthieu Blazy’s creative direction at the house. Greta Lee similarly drew attention with a custom Dior look associated with Jonathan Anderson’s arrival at the brand.
