Dubai has taken a significant stride towards becoming a key player in the booming $111 billion AI industry with the launch of the Dubai Centre for Artificial Intelligence (DCAI). Situated in AREA 2071 at Emirates Towers, the center aims to support government entities in adopting future technologies across diverse sectors.
Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council and Dubai Future Foundation, announced the establishment of DCAI. He emphasized Dubai’s unwavering commitment to embracing AI and leading the charge in global technology innovation.
The DCAI has ambitious plans, including training over 1,000 government employees from more than 30 entities in generative AI. The center will also initiate pilot projects, enhance government services, boost employee productivity, and provide assistance to both local and international advanced technology startups.
To ensure the successful realization of DCAI’s objectives, the Dubai Future Foundation, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), Dubai Media Council, and Dubai Digital Authority will collaborate with relevant authorities. Their joint efforts will involve developing AI-related legislation, attracting cutting-edge global technological solutions, and nurturing national talent.
The launch of the Dubai Centre for AI aligns with the vision of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, aiming to position Dubai as a global leader in capitalizing on emerging opportunities and shaping the future.
This initiative comes at a time when the generative AI sector is projected to experience remarkable growth, with its market value expected to surge from $10 billion in 2022 to $110.8 billion by 2030. Moreover, generative AI is predicted to account for 10% of all data produced by 2025.
