PESHAWAR: At least six Federal Constabulary personnel were martyred and four others injured in a deadly attack on a security checkpoint near Peshawar during the early hours of the morning, according to senior police officials in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The attack took place between 1:00 a.m. and 2:00 a.m. in the Hassan Khel area, located near Dara Adam Khel. Armed militants reportedly stormed the Federal Constabulary post, triggering an intense exchange of fire.
Security officials said personnel stationed at the checkpoint responded immediately to the assault. According to security sources, four attackers were believed to have been killed during the confrontation; however, the fleeing militants allegedly took the bodies with them.
Sources further claimed that six Federal Constabulary personnel were taken away by the attackers during the incident. A search and clearance operation is currently underway in the area to locate the missing personnel and track down those responsible.
Senior police authorities have confirmed the martyrdom of six security personnel, while four others sustained injuries and were shifted for medical treatment.
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry attended the funeral prayers of the martyred personnel in Peshawar and paid tribute to their sacrifice.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the attack as security forces continue operations in the region.
