Iran has claimed to have launched a series of retaliatory attacks against US military assets across the Middle East following recent American strikes, escalating tensions in an already volatile region.
In a statement, Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Headquarters said several US bases in the region were targeted in response to what it described as American aggression in southern Iran. The statement emphasized that the operation was carried out as a direct response to US military actions.
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) reported that US attacks damaged a telecommunications tower in Sirik and destroyed two water tanks. The IRGC also claimed responsibility for a drone attack on the US Fifth Fleet stationed in Bahrain, warning that any continuation of American military actions would be met with a stronger response.
Russian media outlets reported that Iran had shot down a US MQ-9 drone over the Jam area, while Iranian media claimed that the IRGC launched missile strikes against a US military base in Jordan.
According to the IRGC, the Al-Azraq Air Base in Jordan was targeted, with four locations reportedly struck, including F-35 aircraft hangars and a command-and-control center. Iranian officials said long-range missiles were used in the attack.
Iran also claimed to have targeted Kuwait’s Ali Al Salem Air Base with drone strikes. However, the Kuwaiti military stated that its air defense systems were actively intercepting and countering hostile aerial threats.
The claims made by Iran have not been independently verified, and there has been no immediate confirmation from US authorities regarding the reported attacks. The developments mark a significant escalation in regional tensions and raise concerns about the possibility of a broader conflict in the Middle East.
