A petition seeking the restoration of Ali Amin Gandapur as Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has been filed in the Federal Constitutional Court, intensifying political tensions in the province.
The petition, submitted by PTI leader Sher Afzal Marwat, argues that Gandapur’s resignation was obtained under the “dictation of a convicted and disqualified individual” and therefore carries no legal or constitutional validity.
According to the plea, the move to de-notify Gandapur as chief minister was unconstitutional, and all official decisions taken as a result of the alleged unlawful action should be declared void. The petition also challenges the appointment of Suhail Afridi as chief minister and requests the court to reinstate Gandapur to the post.
Meanwhile, Ali Amin Gandapur has distanced himself from the legal proceedings.
In a statement shared on social media, Gandapur said he fulfilled his duty by resigning immediately on the instructions of his leader Imran Khan. He further clarified that he has no connection with the court case or any legal action being pursued in the matter.
Gandapur also shared a copy of his resignation letter in his online post, adding another twist to the unfolding political and constitutional controversy in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
