DARA has won the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 for Bulgaria, securing the country’s first-ever Eurovision victory with her high-energy song “Bangaranga.”
The dramatic grand final took place in Vienna, where millions of viewers around the world watched one of the most competitive and politically charged Eurovision editions in recent years.
DARA achieved a landslide victory with a total of 516 points, including 204 points from professional juries and a massive 312 points from the public televote.
Her victory margin of 173 points over the runner-up became the biggest winning lead in Eurovision history, surpassing the previous record set by Alexander Rybak’s “Fairytale” in 2009.
The result was particularly historic because both juries and televoters selected the same winner for the first time in nearly a decade.
Israel finished second with “Michelle” performed by Noam Bettan, while Romania secured third place through Alexandra Căpitănescu’s controversial performance “Choke Me.”
Australia and Italy completed the Top 5 rankings.
Bulgaria’s victory carried added emotional significance as the country had returned to Eurovision only this year after skipping the contests between 2023 and 2025.
The win also marked a major milestone in Bulgaria’s Eurovision history after years of near-misses, including Kristian Kostov’s second-place finish in 2017 with “Beautiful Mess.”
DARA, already one of Bulgaria’s biggest pop stars, is known for blending modern Balkan pop with electronic and experimental sounds. Her previous chart hits include “Thunder,” “Call Me,” and “Mr. Rover.”
Over recent years, she has become one of the most recognizable faces in contemporary Bulgarian music, with millions of streams, television appearances, and mentoring roles on The Voice of Bulgaria.
Her latest album, ADHDARA, released in 2025, helped establish her growing international profile before her Eurovision breakthrough.
This year’s Eurovision final was also surrounded by political controversy, heavy security, and protests linked to Israel’s participation amid the Gaza conflict, adding further intensity to the competition atmosphere in Vienna.
Despite the tensions, DARA’s explosive performance, powerful stage presence, and audience appeal ultimately dominated the night, delivering one of the most memorable victories in Eurovision’s 70-year history.
