A serious criminal investigation is underway in Rawalpindi after police registered a case against a serving head constable and four other individuals accused of operating an alleged honey trap and extortion scheme.
The case has drawn public attention because one of the accused is a serving police official. Authorities say the investigation is being conducted on merit, and anyone found guilty will face legal action.
Victim Claims He Was Trapped Through a Woman
According to the First Information Report (FIR), the complainant, identified as Shiraz, alleged that he was deliberately lured into a honey trap involving a woman.
He claimed the meeting was part of a planned operation designed to blackmail him. Investigators believe the suspects may have worked together to execute the alleged scheme.
Extortion Demand Reached Rs5 Million
Police records state that after Shiraz was allegedly trapped, he was detained by the suspects.
The accused reportedly demanded Rs5 million in exchange for his release. According to the complaint, negotiations later reduced the amount, and the suspects allegedly accepted Rs1.1 million before allowing him to leave.
Family Sought Help From Senior Police Officials
Following his release, Shiraz informed his family about the incident.
His relatives later approached the City Police Officer (CPO) Rawalpindi and requested an independent investigation. They argued that the allegations were too serious to be ignored because they involved a serving member of the police force.
Alleged Attempt to Register False Case
The complainant’s family also made another serious allegation during the inquiry.
They claimed an attempt was made to register a false rape case against Shiraz through the woman allegedly involved in the honey trap. Police have included this claim in the ongoing investigation.
Internal Inquiry Ordered by Police
After receiving the complaint, senior police officials initiated an internal inquiry.
According to investigators, preliminary findings supported several parts of the victim’s allegations. As a result, fresh charges were added to the case before it was formally registered.
FIR Registered at Chaklala Police Station
The case has been registered at Chaklala Police Station in Rawalpindi.
Police named five individuals in the FIR, including a serving head constable, one woman and three other suspects. Authorities have not yet disclosed all operational details because the investigation remains active.
Digital Evidence Under Examination
Investigators are collecting multiple forms of evidence to establish what happened.
Police officials say they are reviewing witness statements, mobile phone records, digital communications and financial transactions linked to the alleged extortion payments.
Financial Trail May Play Key Role
Officials believe banking records and money transfers could become important evidence.
If investigators confirm that money changed hands as alleged, financial documents may strengthen the prosecution’s case during court proceedings.
Serious Criminal Charges Possible
Legal experts say the accused could face multiple criminal charges if the allegations are proven in court.
Possible offences include extortion, criminal conspiracy, wrongful confinement, abuse of authority and misuse of an official position. Additional charges could also be added if investigators uncover further evidence.
Police Officer’s Role Under Scrutiny
The involvement of a serving police official has made the case particularly sensitive.
Law enforcement agencies are expected to examine whether the accused officer acted alone or whether other officials had knowledge of the alleged activities.
Accountability Within Law Enforcement
The case has once again raised questions about accountability within police institutions.
Experts say public confidence depends on transparent investigations whenever allegations involve government officials or law enforcement personnel.
Public Trust Remains a Priority
Security analysts believe prompt action is essential in cases involving abuse of power.
They argue that impartial investigations help strengthen trust between citizens and police while reinforcing the principle that no individual is above the law.
Authorities Promise Fair Investigation
Police officials insist that the investigation will proceed without favour or political influence.
They say all available evidence will be examined before any conclusions are reached, and legal action will be taken against anyone found responsible.
Investigation Continues
The Rawalpindi honey trap case remains under investigation as authorities continue collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses.
Officials have urged the public to avoid speculation until the inquiry is complete. They say further updates will be shared as the investigation progresses through the legal process.
