Lahore: Punjab’s Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has warned that the second spell of monsoon rains will begin on July 19 and continue until July 24, raising concerns over urban flooding and flash floods across several districts.
According to the PDMA spokesperson, the upcoming weather system is expected to bring intense rainfall within short periods, increasing the risk of waterlogging in low-lying urban areas and disrupting normal life.
Heavy rain is forecast for Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Faisalabad, Khushab, Sargodha, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Sahiwal, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Nankana Sahib, and Chiniot.
Rain is also expected in Noorpur Thal, Bhakkar, Mianwali, Layyah, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan, Khanewal, Lodhran, Muzaffargarh, Kot Addu, Rahim Yar Khan, and Rajanpur.
The PDMA has specifically warned of urban flooding in Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sialkot, Multan, and Faisalabad. Authorities also cautioned that local streams, Nullah Lai, and seasonal waterways in Kashmir, Murree, Galiyat, and northeastern Punjab could experience dangerous surges due to heavy rainfall.
Residents have been advised to stay updated with official weather alerts and avoid unnecessary travel in flood-prone areas during the monsoon spell.
