Speaking to reporters in the Indian capital during a meeting of the BRICS bloc, Araghchi said Tehran remains skeptical of US intentions amid growing regional tensions but remains open to diplomatic efforts backed by trusted international partners.
“We appreciate any country who has the ability to help, particularly China,” Araghchi said, according to AFP.
The Iranian foreign minister described Beijing as a strategic partner with “good intentions,” adding that any Chinese efforts to support diplomacy would be welcomed by the Islamic Republic.
“We have very good relations with China, we are strategic partners to each other, and we know that the Chinese have a good intention,” he said.
Araghchi’s remarks come at a time of heightened instability across the Middle East, with global powers increasingly seeking diplomatic channels to prevent further escalation.
Iran and China have strengthened political and economic ties in recent years, particularly as Tehran faces ongoing pressure and sanctions from Western nations, particularly the United States.
The comments also signal Tehran’s attempt to deepen cooperation with emerging global blocs such as BRICS while positioning China as a potential mediator in regional conflicts and future diplomatic negotiations.
