A spinoff centered around Jon Snow is reportedly in the works, and actor Liam Cunningham, known for his role as Ser Davos, has expressed his interest in joining the project.
In a conversation with Den of Geek, the Irish actor disclosed that he had messaged Kit Harington, who plays Jon Snow, to convey his desire. Cunningham humorously referred to the situation with the phrase “Better Call Davos,” reminiscent of the well-received show “Better Call Saul” on AMC.
Cunningham shared that he hasn’t received a response from Harington yet, adding, “You probably know more than I do. I wish them the best to whoever’s involved in it, and if the check is big enough, I might even show up again!” He jokingly alluded to the potential influence of a substantial paycheck on his decision.
In the immensely popular series “Game of Thrones,” Cunningham’s character, Ser Davos Seaworth, emerged as one of the fortunate survivors among the array of characters in the HBO show, known for its unpredictability in character fatalities.
Meanwhile, reports surfaced in 2022 that a sequel centered around Jon Snow had been given the green light, with Kit Harington reprising his role as the lead. Renowned author George R. R. Martin also confirmed the development on his blog, revealing the title of the show as “Snow.” However, Martin noted that the official status of the series is yet to be formally announced.
Production on House of the Dragon Season 2 is going strong, with Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin revealing that the second season is “half done” with its shooting. Despite the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike, filming on the show was able to continue as “all of the scripts had been finished months before the WGA strike began,” Martin noted. “No writing has been done since, to the best of my knowledge.” The eight-episode run is due to air on Max in mid-2024.
