US President Donald Trump has fired back at Hollywood actor and filmmaker George Clooney after the latter criticized him in a recent CBS News’ 60 Minutes interview. The interview was part of a segment promoting Clooney’s Broadway adaptation of his 2005 drama Good Night, and Good Luck, where he spoke about the challenges facing the media under the second Trump administration.
Speaking on 60 Minutes, Clooney compared how occurs in the play differs to current events, saying: “Here’s where I would tell you where we differ from what Murrow was doing, although McCarthy would try to pose things that he’d show up a blank piece of paper and say I’ve got a list of names, okay so it was that was his version of fake news.
“We now are at a place where we found that it’s harder and harder, and harder to discern the truth – facts are now negotiated.”
Trump, known for his fiery responses to critics, took to his Truth Social platform, calling Clooney a “second-rate movie star” and a “failed political pundit.” He accused Clooney of supporting President Joe Biden but abandoning him after the 2024 debate, stating:
“He fought hard for Sleepy Joe’s election and then, right after the debate, dumped him like a dog. Later, I assume under orders from the Obama camp, pushed all out for ‘Kamala,’ only to soon realize that that would not work out too well.”

Meanwhile, Trump has also launched a $20 billion lawsuit against CBS, accusing 60 Minutes of election and voter interference for allegedly editing an interview with Vice President Kamala Harris to portray him in a negative light.
With tensions between Trump and the media continuing to escalate, his latest attacks on CBS and Clooney highlight the deepening political and cultural divide in US politics.
