KARACHI . My son was born after years of prayers, and that tyrant destroyed my entire world,” wept the devastated father of six-year-old Muhammad Wali, who was brutally assaulted and murdered in Karachi’s Lea Market area.
The minor boy was abducted from outside his house on Monday evening. After hours of frantic searching yielded no results, the family registered a missing person report at the Napier Police Station.
The grim reality unfolded when Wali’s body, stuffed inside a gunny bag, was thrown down from the third floor of a residential building. Police quickly took custody of the body and shifted it to Civil Hospital for post-mortem examination.
According to the grieving family, the heinous crime was committed right next door. “We had been searching for him for two days,” the family stated, demanding immediate justice from higher authorities. “The crime took place inside our neighbor’s house. He didn’t let us enter his home and even put up a drama of helping us look for Wali.”
The victim’s mother, shattered by the trauma, shared that her son’s mutilated body was packed into a sack before being flung from the third storey. “We just want justice. We have no enmity with anyone,” the parents pleaded. Wali’s father, a rickshaw driver, shared that he has four daughters, and Wali was his only son and the youngest of five siblings.
Infuriated by the incident, local residents took matters into their own hands, apprehending the suspect identified as Hamza and handing him over to the police.
Law enforcement officials confirmed that the child was subjected to sexual assault before being murdered. “The suspect, who is the victim’s neighbor, has been arrested,” a police spokesperson said, assuring that the perpetrator of the horrific crime will face strict legal consequences.
