Entertainment commentator Dr Ejaz Waris has claimed that Pakistani actress Sajal Aly has left Geo Entertainment’s upcoming drama serial Lahu, which features prominent actors Bilal Abbas Khan and Hamza Ali Abbasi.
Waris shared the news through an Instagram video, stating that Sajal had decided to quit the project. However, he did not disclose the reason behind her reported departure, suggesting that some details were better left unsaid.
According to Waris, the Geo Entertainment team is now searching for a new female lead to replace Sajal. He also mentioned that Bilal Abbas Khan and Hamza Ali Abbasi are among the major names already associated with the project.
The upcoming drama had generated considerable excitement among viewers, particularly because Sajal Aly and Bilal Abbas Khan were expected to reunite on screen. Their collaboration in Lahu was anticipated to become their fourth joint project.
Waris also explained that casting changes are possible before a drama begins filming. He noted that actors may leave projects or undergo casting changes before production officially starts.
He further claimed that Sajal had previously left the project Laila Majnu to join Lahu and has now reportedly exited Lahu as well.
Sajal Aly and Bilal Abbas Khan last appeared together in the 2021 film Khel Khel Mein. Meanwhile, Sajal and Hamza Ali Abbasi previously worked together in Geo Entertainment’s 2019 drama Alif.
The news has raised questions among drama fans about who will eventually replace Sajal Aly and appear opposite Bilal Abbas Khan.
As of now, the reported departure has been shared by Dr Ejaz Waris, and further details about the replacement actress and the drama’s casting are awaited.
