At Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar talks, China reaffirms its intentions to improve the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). He stressed the strong bond between the two countries, whilst suggesting the need for upgrading CPEC. Both sides highlighted the possibility of implementing the Framework Agreement on Industrial Cooperation involving industry, agriculture, mining, new energy and information technology. The strategic dialogue, co-chaired by Wang and Dar, emphasised the keystone role of the China-Pakistan relations in the foreign policy of Pakistan. Dar mentioned here the regional peace threats that continue due to India’s actions in Jammu and Kashmir and commended China’s principled posture on the matter. Wang had a lunch with Dar to show the sincere intention of China to enhance the cooperation and ensure the safe work and investment of China in Pakistan.
They recommended better counterterrorism collaboration and they talked about global economic trends as well as the Middle East developments. Chinese Vice-Premier Ding Xuexiang, during a different meeting with Dar, also repeated China’s focus on strategic communication and high-quality CPEC development. They noted the progress of CPEC in energy and infrastructure and they had high hopes for phase two’s beneficial results in industry, agriculture and mineral development.

Connectivity through the border crossing of Khunjerab and a simplified visa regime were also among the items. Dar reiterated zero tolerance for the campaigners of the attacks and both sides vowed to maintain CPEC cooperation for mutual profit and regional advancement
