A major breakdown in the connectivity of various banks to 1LINK-the main interbank network in Pakistan-a lot of trouble was given to the customers to get cash from the Automated Teller Machines on Monday.
This disruption caused a temporary block on cash withdrawals, as many people were unable to draw cash.
Different customers in various banks complained of not being able to withdraw cash, nor were they able to make online money transfers because of the disruption.
The connectivity issues seemed to have really hit these two financial institutions hard in processing customer transactions.
Officer officials at 1LINK have issued a statement to this growing concern and came forth assuring the people that the connectivity with some banks indeed became disrupted. The officers assured that it is being worked out, and efforts are in place to get the service fully restored as earlier.
This incident is just a repeat of what occurred in August, where rumors spread like wildfire across the nation that ATMs would be completely shut down. It forced the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority to deny such news items as “fake news.”
It had further been clarified by the PTA that there was no such issue that would affect ATM networks or financial operations. It further said that the operations of expired Long Distance and International licensees were neither suspended nor shut down.
