The monsoon rains that started in Balochistan on July 1 have caused widespread destruction, resulting in 19 deaths, 11 injuries, and affecting over 3,000 people.
According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), 417 houses have been damaged, 124 completely collapsed, and 293 partially damaged.
The rains have also affected 97 acres of crops, 31 kilometers of roads, and partially damaged six bridges, while 120 cattle have been killed.
The PDMA reported that two dangerous spells of monsoon have been witnessed in the province since July 1, severely affecting 16 districts.
The provincial government has declared an emergency in many union councils of Kalat, Ziarat, Awaran, Kuchi, Loralai, Sahabpur, and Lasbela districts.
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) had earlier reported 195 deaths and 362 injuries across the country from July 1 to August 17, with 2,293 houses destroyed.
Relief activities are underway in the affected districts, with the Balochistan National Highway Authority working to repair damaged roads. However, the Meteorological Department has forecast more rains in the next 24 hours, raising concerns of further devastation.
In a separate incident, two girls fell into a dam in Pishin, resulting in the death of a 14-year-old girl, while the search for a 4-year-old girl continues.
