LAHORE: Police have arrested two main suspects in the alleged gang rape case involving a foreign woman in Lahore’s Defence area, while efforts are underway to arrest a third suspect.
According to Lahore Investigation Police, the second suspect, identified as Ali, was arrested from Chishtian. Another suspect, identified as Mohsin, had already been arrested, while police are conducting raids to apprehend the third suspect, Tanveer.
Police brought Ali from Chishtian to Lahore. Both suspects are scheduled to be presented before a court today.
The incident involving the foreign woman, identified as Diana, reportedly occurred three days ago.
According to police, the 20-year-old Diana, who is from Azerbaijan, had arrived in Lahore a few days earlier. Police said two unidentified women allegedly lured her to a café, where three of their male associates were present.
The suspects allegedly gave the woman a drink containing an intoxicating substance and subjected her to alleged gang rape. They later allegedly left her near the airport and fled.
Police are continuing efforts to arrest the remaining suspect.
