US President Donald Trump has warned that Iran would face a severe attack if it is found to be linked to the Flydubai incident that occurred earlier this week.
Speaking to reporters, Trump said he had been briefed on the situation and suggested that the co-pilot accused of attacking the captain with a knife could have links to Iran.
Asked whether Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) had sent the co-pilot or whether he had independently become radicalized, Trump said it was possible.
“If Iran is found to be connected to the Flydubai incident this week, don’t worry, Iran will be hit very hard,” Trump said.
Earlier, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said it would be premature to conclude that the co-pilot had any connection to Iran.
Trump also addressed rising oil prices, saying they would begin to fall once the Iran issue was resolved. He claimed that the matter was “almost over” and said more oil was currently being extracted through the Strait of Hormuz than before the war.
Trump added that Iran would either sign “a very fair deal” or “there will be nothing left of Iran.”
