WASHINGTON: U.S. President Donald Trump has claimed that Iran has only 21–22% of its missile stockpile remaining and will ultimately have no choice but to reach an agreement.
In an interview with NBC News, Trump said resolving conflicts takes time and cannot happen overnight. He argued that Iran would eventually be forced to take steps it had never imagined, adding that a negotiated deal would become unavoidable.
Trump also stated that Iran had not agreed to a ceasefire arrangement, suggesting that Tehran’s stance reflects its determination and sense of national pride. He further remarked that critics would be asking different questions if he were not leading the administration.
Speaking separately to reporters, Trump said his administration was achieving “tremendous success” regarding Iran. He reiterated that Iran would not be allowed to obtain nuclear weapons and insisted that Tehran is not in a position to become a nuclear-armed state.
Addressing concerns about global energy markets, Trump noted that many oil tankers continue to pass through the Strait of Hormuz. He expressed confidence that tensions surrounding the strategic waterway could be resolved relatively quickly and predicted that oil prices would decline once stability returns, possibly falling below current levels.
