Rain expected to start in Pakistan today: City-wise rainfall forecast

We are expecting rain in Pakistan from today as according to the Meteorological Department, monsoon winds from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal are expected to enter the country’s eastern regions today, Wednesday.

Meanwhile, a low-pressure system is located south of the Indian state of Gujrat. Under the influence of this weather system, rain with strong winds and thunderstorms is expected in Sindh, including Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad, and some other areas of interior Sindh, with heavy rain at a few places.

From June 27 to July 1, intermittent rain with thunderstorms is expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Gujrat, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, and Narowal, with heavy rain and hailstorm likely at a few places.

The Meteorological Department has also forecast intermittent rain with thunderstorms and occasional heavy rain and hailstorms in several areas of Punjab, including Faisalabad, Sargodha, Bhakkar, and Mianwali.

From June 26 to June 30, rain with thunderstorms is expected in several areas of southern Punjab as well.

From June 28 to July 1, intermittent rain with thunderstorms is expected in Diamer, Astore, Ghizer, Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Ghanche, and Shigar in Gilgit-Baltistan, and in Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Bagh, Bhimber, and Mirpur in Pakistan-administered Kashmir, with heavy rain likely in some areas.

The Meteorological Department also expects intermittent rain with thunderstorms in Dir, Chitral, Swat, Kohistan, Malakand, Bajaur, Shangla, Kohat, and Bajaur in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with heavy rain likely in a few places. Similarly, intermittent rain with thunderstorms is expected in several districts including Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Peshawar, and Mardan, with heavy rain expected at some locations.

From June 26 to June 28, rain with thunderstorms is expected in Lasbela, Khuzdar, Awaran, Jhal Magsi, Kalat, Naseerabad, Jaffarabad, Dera Bugti, Kohlu, Zhob, and Barkhan districts of Balochistan.

Potential Impacts and Precautions:
Heavy rain from June 28 to June 30 could lead to urban flooding in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Sialkot, Gujranwala, and Narowal.

Thunderstorms and strong winds could disrupt daily activities and damage weak infrastructure (such as power poles and solar panels on vehicles).

Authorities have advised all relevant agencies to remain ‘alert’ and take all necessary measures to avoid any adverse incidents.
