In the wake of the latest India Pakistan conflict escalation, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz declared a state of emergency across the province on Wednesday. This decision followed multiple Indian missile strikes targeting civilian areas in Pakistan. As a precaution, all educational institutions have been ordered to close immediately.
In an emergency press briefing, CM Maryam announced that all doctors and medical staff leaves are canceled, and civil defence teams have been called back to duty. Hospitals and rescue services have been placed on high alert to respond quickly to any emergencies.
Missile Strikes Spark Rapid Response
The Pakistani military confirmed that Indian airstrikes hit five locations inside Pakistan: Bahawalpur, Kotli, Muzaffarabad, Bagh, and Muridke. According to DG ISPR Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, the strikes deliberately targeted civilian zones and avoided military bases.
Pakistan’s armed forces launched an immediate counterattack, reportedly destroying an Indian brigade headquarters and a military post in the Dudhnial sector near the Line of Control (LoC). Security sources also confirmed that three Indian aircraft were shot down by the Pakistan Air Force.
Strong Words from Punjab Leadership
Condemning India’s actions, Maryam Nawaz stated, “The people of Punjab stand united with our armed forces. India may have started this—but we will finish it.” She stressed that while Pakistan desires peace, its sovereignty is non-negotiable.
She added, “We seek peace, but with dignity. If war is imposed, the nation will respond as one.”
Public Safety Comes First
As part of the emergency measures, CM Maryam urged citizens to stay indoors, avoid unnecessary travel, and trust only official channels for information. Rescue 1122, district administrations, and civil defence departments are fully mobilized.
While the India Pakistan conflict escalation continues to unfold, the Punjab government is taking swift action to protect lives, support the military, and keep essential services ready for any further developments.
