In a recent study, Dubai was ranked among the top 10 cities for affordability of public transport, along with Luxembourg, Tallinn, and Valletta, which offer free transport. Conversely, London, Zurich, and Oslo were rated the most expensive. The study also revealed that Sao Paolo, Istanbul, Melbourne, Toronto, and Paris have the most reasonably priced public transport. Among the seven Emirates in the UAE, Dubai has the highest-priced single journey ticket at AED7.50, and only Dubai, Sharjah, and Abu Dhabi offer monthly passes.
Of these three cities, Dubai has the priciest monthly pass, while Abu Dhabi has the cheapest. The study was based on March 2023 prices and average net wages and did not include cities with multiple providers and no monthly pass option.
