PTI Long March Set for October 4, Sohail Afridi Announces
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has announced that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) long march will begin on October 4, while October 5 will be observed as a day of victory.
Speaking to the media in the provincial capital, Afridi said all details regarding the long march were discussed during a meeting of the party’s political committee. He said the PTI’s protest would remain peaceful and that the Constitution allows peaceful protests.
He said the long march was being held for “real freedom,” adding that postponing the protest had been a political strategy. However, party workers would now set out on October 4.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister said the anger among party workers this time was unprecedented in his view. He added that talks and dialogue would continue even after the long march.
Criticising the federal government, Afridi called for political solutions instead of arrests of party workers and confrontations with police. He said PTI stood with Pakistan and would not allow the country to be divided.
He demanded that Islamabad be opened and court orders implemented, warning that otherwise PTI workers would continue their protest.
