The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to appoint Mohammad Rizwan as the captain of Pakistan’s T20 and ODI teams.
Wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan recently concluded a meeting with PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi. According to sources, Naqvi has made the decision to assign Rizwan the role of captain for both the T20 and ODI formats.
As reported by Geo News, the suggestion to appoint Rizwan as captain came from head coach Gary Kirsten, and the selectors also backed this decision. Sources further indicate that Salman Ali Agha has been proposed for the position of vice-captain.
According to PCB sources, the selection committee finalized the white-ball squad for the Australia tour yesterday, with consideration given to including players who performed well in the Champions ODI Cup for the upcoming tour.
Abdullah Imran ,a passionate cricket enthusiast, shared his views on the decision, saying that Rizwan is a wise choice given the current situation within the PCB, especially with ongoing conflicts among teammates. He believes that Rizwan’s neutral stance and his dedication to the team’s success make him an ideal leader for Pakistan cricket.
Mahnoor added to this by highlighting Rizwan’s experience with the Multan Sultans in the PSL: “Rizwan’s successful tenure with Multan Sultans, including four consecutive PSL finals appearances, showcases his leadership prowess and experience, making a strong case for his continued captaincy.”
