Mohsin Naqvi doesn’t have a clue about cricket: Former opener attacks PCB chairman

Pakistan’s former opener Ahmad Shahzad has hit out against PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi after the team’s loss against Bangladesh in the first Test match at Rawalpindi.

During the PCB Chairman, Mohsin Naqvi’s tenure, Pakistan had a humiliating defeat from Ireland and then had two back-to-back T20 losses from England just before the T20 Worldcup.

Even under his patronage, Pakistan had the worst performance in the T20 World Cup as it couldn’t even reach the next Super-8 round. The people of Pakistan will never forget the defeat by the rookie USA in the 1st match between the two countries.

Former Pakistani opener in a vlog criticized the Chairman PCB Mohsin Naqvi by saying:

“When you lost to India in the T20 World Cup 2024, to keep people quiet, you said that you would do a surgery on Pakistan cricket. But you failed to do it. You lied to people just like others in the past. What did you think? That you would buy time? That after you beat Bangladesh in the Test series, people will go a little quiet and then you will implement your changes, but that did not happen,” Shahzad said in his video on YouTube.

Shahzad further said:

Mohsin Naqvi had made a bold statement that he will do surgery on Pakistan cricket after the team’s group-stage loss against India in the T20 World Cup 2024. Pakistan made several changes to their technical group by sacking director of cricket Mohammad Hafeez and selector Wahab Riaz.

However, despite the changes, Pakistan once again failed to win a Test match in their home conditions. The team has not won a single Test in their home conditions since 2022, and have lost series to England and Australia.

“This is what happens if you don’t make changes in time. You got scared and you did not make decisions. I was told that Mohsin Naqvi was a brave, resolute, and shrewd man with extreme power when he became the PCB chief.

It was being said that if anyone could change the PCB, it would be Naqvi. But we have not seen it yet, but whatever he has done so far, this much is clear that Mohsin Naqvi has no idea about cricket,”

“The people that have been running Pakistan cricket for the last 12-15 years, they are still calling the shots. It culminated in Bangladesh beating Pakistan for the first time in a Test match. I have never seen this in my life,” Shahzad said in his rant.
