Islamabad: The Government of Pakistan has announced another increase in the prices of petroleum products, pushing petrol and high-speed diesel to new record levels within two days.
According to a notification issued by the Petroleum Division, the price of petrol has been increased by Rs6.39 per litre, taking the new price to Rs327.12 per litre. Meanwhile, the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) has been raised by Rs7.83 per litre, bringing it to Rs375.04 per litre.
The revised prices came into effect from 12:00 a.m. on July 23, following the official notification.
This latest hike comes just a day after the government had already increased petrol prices by Rs4.93 per litre and diesel prices by Rs7.15 per litre.
With the two consecutive revisions, petrol has become Rs11.32 per litre more expensive, while high-speed diesel has risen by Rs14.98 per litre in just two days, adding further pressure on transportation costs and household budgets.
The Petroleum Division has not provided additional details regarding the reasons behind the latest price adjustment.
