ISLAMABAD: Overseas Pakistanis have sent home a record amount of remittances, reflecting growing confidence in Pakistan’s economy and financial system.
According to a spokesperson for the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), remittances reached an all-time monthly high of $4.30 billion in May 2026. The inflows recorded a 20 percent increase compared to the previous month and a 15 percent rise year-on-year.
The SBP spokesperson said that during the first 11 months of the current fiscal year, total remittances increased by 9 percent, reaching $38.10 billion.
The strong inflow of foreign exchange from overseas Pakistanis has provided significant support to the country’s external account and economic stability.
Officials expect remittances to continue their upward trend, with the State Bank projecting that a new annual remittance record will be achieved by the end of the current fiscal year.
