The federal government has decided to launch a nationwide crackdown against illegal call centers operating across Pakistan. According to media reports, a new task force has been formed following the failure of a previous operation by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA).
The task force will include officers from sensitive institutions, the FIA’s cybercrime wing, federal police, district administrations, and other relevant agencies. It will operate under the supervision of the FIA headquarters.
The task force will investigate alleged blackmailing, gambling, online scams, and other illegal activities linked to illegal call centers. Details of the operations will be submitted to the Ministry of Interior on a daily basis.
Authorities have also prepared a list of suspected illegal call centers operating in Karachi, with further action expected across the city.
Meanwhile, FIA and NCCIA recently arrested 275 foreign nationals during a raid on an alleged illegal call center in Islamabad’s I-10/3 sector. Cases were reportedly registered against the suspects under the Foreigners Act and PECA.
