During the ABP’s Majha Maha Katta event, Ranaut expressed that she had not watched the film but had read that the High Court had ruled against banning it. She said that the film only portrayed ISIS in a bad light and did not negatively show anyone else. According to Kangana, if the country’s most responsible body, the High Court, has deemed that the film cannot be banned, they must be right.
Ranaut continued by saying that if anyone thinks that ISIS is not a terrorist organization, then they are also terrorists themselves. She clarified that she was referring to those who believed the movie had personally attacked them, not ISIS. The trailer for The Kerala Story had created controversy when it stated that 32,000 girls from Kerala had gone missing and joined the terrorist group ISIS, leading to a major political row.
Despite the backlash, the film was released on Friday.
