In a major breakthrough in the investigation into the target killing of Javed Butt, brother-in-law of infamous gangster Khawaja Tareef alias Teefi Butt, police have found crucial evidence, including the CCTV footage.
Sources close to police said four suspects were involved in the targeted killing with both a rickshaw and a motorcycle.
The probe also found that when the victim, Javed Butt, was leaving for work from his house in Huma Block, Iqbal Town, with his wife, a suspicious rickshaw was seen lurking outside his house.
The rickshaw, along with a motorcycle, followed the car of the victim till it reached the FC underpass where the car was going slow. The motorcyclists attacked at this moment.
As the couple’s car pulled out from the driveway, the rickshaw stopped on the main road. The motorcycle and rickshaw pursued closely behind till near FC underpass, the shooter riding at the back of the motorcycle opened fire on Javed Butt.
He was wearing a helmet to mask his face, while the motorcycle driver was without one. Immediately after the attack, the shooter and his accomplice sped away on the motorcycle, long before anyone could reach the scene.
Police sources said several CCTV clips have been obtained showing the suspects at different locations. These images are likely to help in the arrest of those behind the heinous crime.
