An attempt by Afghan Taliban fighters to enter Pakistani territory and carry out an act of aggression in the Gulistan sector along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border was foiled by security forces.
According to security sources, security forces launched a timely and effective response after Afghan Taliban fighters attempted to enter Pakistani territory, resulting in the deaths of several Afghan Taliban fighters.
Sources said intermittent firing between security forces and Afghan Taliban fighters is still continuing, while security forces in the border area have been placed on high alert.
Security sources said the forces remain fully prepared to respond promptly and effectively to any infiltration or aggression from Afghan territory into Pakistan.
Officials said the border situation is being continuously monitored and necessary measures are being taken to deal with any potential threat.
Eight Terrorists Killed During Intelligence-Based Operation in North Waziristan
Separately, security sources said security forces killed eight terrorists during an intelligence-based operation in North Waziristan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to security sources, a large quantity of weapons, ammunition and other equipment was also recovered from the slain terrorists. The hideouts used by the terrorists were also completely destroyed during the operation.
Sources said the terrorists attempted to use a mosque as a shield to evade security forces. However, the forces, while respecting the sanctity of the mosque, targeted the militants with great precision.
Security sources further said that security forces remain committed to eliminating Fitna al-Khawarij terrorists from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and are continuing operations toward this objective.
According to the federal government, Pakistan is facing terrorism originating from Afghanistan, in which the Taliban government is also allegedly involved. On the previous day, security sources said the Pakistan Army had foiled an attempt by Fitna al-Khawarij militants, operating under the supervision of Afghan Taliban from Afghan posts in Nangarhar and Paktia, to infiltrate the Kurram sector.
Sources said that following the failure of the infiltration attempt, Afghan Taliban fighters opened unprovoked fire on Pakistani border posts in the Kurram sector, using heavy weapons, mortars and other arms.
