Heavy rain across Pakistan has flooded low-lying areas, raised water levels in Nullah Lai and the Ravi River, and prompted authorities to issue alerts and monitor vulnerable areas.

Heavy rain is continuing in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Attock, Hazro, Gujrat, Swabi and several other parts of Pakistan, leaving low-lying areas inundated and causing rainwater to enter homes in some areas.
The intense rainfall has flooded roads and triggered high-water conditions in streams and drains. In Rawalpindi, the water level in Nullah Lai has risen, prompting authorities to remain on high alert to deal with any possible emergency.
Rain is also continuing in Islamabad. The district administration has maintained its alert and started continuous monitoring of low-lying areas and waterways. Sanitation teams are present in the field on the instructions of the Deputy Commissioner, while measures are underway for the timely drainage of accumulated rainwater.
Meanwhile, at Head Balloki, the Ravi River recorded an inflow of 41,790 cusecs and an outflow of 15,740 cusecs.
According to the Irrigation Department, the upstream water level at Head Balloki was recorded at 633 feet, while the downstream level stood at 619.50 feet.
The report said that 7,050 cusecs of water was being released into the Lower Bari Doab Canal, while the discharge from Balloki-Sidhnai was recorded at 19,000 cusecs.
In Gujrat, rainwater entered homes, creating difficulties for residents. In Swabi, heavy rainfall caused high-water conditions in streams and drains.
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has also directed relevant institutions to remain alert in view of the ongoing rains. The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast further rainfall in various parts of the country and advised citizens to take precautionary measures.
