Punjabi singer and actor Ammy Virk’s concert convoy was targeted in Abbotsford, Canada, after his performance, with multiple shots fired and no injuries reported.

Punjabi singer and actor Ammy Virk’s concert convoy was caught up in a shooting in Abbotsford, British Columbia, late Sept. 5, hours after his performance at Rogers Forum. No one was injured, and police are investigating the incident as a possible targeted attack.
According to the Abbotsford Police Department, a vehicle traveling through the 2500 block of McCallum Road was fired upon shortly after 11 p.m. by occupants of another vehicle. Investigators said preliminary information indicated that the attackers were traveling in a dark-coloured SUV.
Police officers responded to the scene and confirmed that shots had been fired. Fortunately, nobody was injured.
Shortly after the shooting, officers were called to the 2400 block of Sunnyside Place, where they found an SUV completely engulfed in flames. Police are investigating whether the burned vehicle was connected to the shooting, although that link has not been conclusively established.
Canadian and Indian media reports have identified the targeted vehicle as being associated with Virk’s concert convoy. Some reports said the vehicle was bulletproof and carried Virk and the concert promoter. Other reports have stated that approximately seven shots were fired.
However, police have not publicly confirmed that Virk was inside the vehicle when the shooting occurred. A report published by Hindustan Times also said Virk’s father later disputed reports that the singer himself had been in danger, highlighting conflicting accounts surrounding the incident.
The shooting occurred after Virk performed at Rogers Forum as part of his 2026 Unity Tour. The venue lists his Abbotsford performance for Sept. 5.
The Abbotsford Police Department’s Major Crime Unit has taken over the investigation and is working to establish the motive and determine whether the vehicle fire was connected to the shooting. Police said early indications suggest the incident was targeted.
Investigators are appealing to anyone who witnessed suspicious activity or captured dashcam footage in the McCallum Road area between 10:45 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. or around Sunnyside Place between 11 p.m. and midnight on Sept. 5 to contact police.
No arrests have been announced, and the motive behind the shooting remains unclear.
The incident has renewed concerns about security surrounding Punjabi artists performing in Canada, where several high-profile musicians have previously faced threats or attacks. For now, authorities are focusing on identifying the shooters, establishing the connection between the two vehicles and determining why the convoy was targeted.
