It’s worth noting that Pakistani players have not been allowed to take part in the IPL since the inaugural season of this high-profile league. While players like Shoaib Malik, Shoaib Akhtar, Kamran Akmal, Sohail Tanvir, Shahid Afridi, and others initially featured in IPL franchises, their participation ceased after the 2008 season.
Former Pakistani all-rounder Azhar Mahmood, however, represented Punjab Kings in the league using a British passport. Additionally, Mohammad Amir, who is on the verge of acquiring British citizenship, may follow suit and join the IPL in the future.
