Seasoned financial journalist George Moriarty has been promoted to Managing Editor at Axios, marking a significant step in a distinguished career spanning more than two decades across multiple platforms in business journalism.
Moriarty, who joined Axios Pro as Senior Editor, has played a pivotal role in launching five deal-focused newsletters for investors, executives, and dealmakers. His editorial leadership and deep knowledge of financial markets have been central to the success of Axios Pro’s premium content offering.
With a journalism career that began in 1997, Moriarty brings a wealth of experience in print, digital, audio, and video journalism. Before Axios, he served as Chief Content Officer at InvestmentNews, overseeing editorial strategy and product development. Before that, he held key leadership roles at Seeking Alpha, including Editor-in-Chief and Managing Editor of Opinion & Analysis.
From 2008 to 2011, Moriarty was Editor-in-Chief for Online Platforms at Merrill Lynch Global Wealth Management, where he helped modernize the firm’s digital editorial presence. Earlier in his career, he held senior editorial roles at TheStreet.com, Investment Dealers’ Digest, FEI Research Foundation, and Thomson Financial/Venture Economics. Between 1993 and 1997, he also worked in the financial industry as a broker in the fixed income markets.

A graduate of Fordham University with a B.A. in Political Science, Moriarty is also a dedicated community volunteer. He serves on several youth sports, school, and civic boards. Since 2013, he has led a family initiative that has raised over $30,000 for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, supporting research in childhood cancer.
Based in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, George lives with his wife, children, and what he proudly calls an “exceedingly handsome dog.”
