ISLAMABAD: Petrol pump dealers across Pakistan have announced a nationwide strike beginning at 12:00 AM. on July 23, raising concerns over possible fuel supply disruptions.
The Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association (Central Punjab) has officially endorsed the strike call issued by the All Pakistan Petrol Pump Owners Association.
Speaking on the matter, Chaudhry Nauman Majeed, President of the Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association (Central Punjab), said that dealers across the region would fully participate in the protest. He stated that petrol pumps in Lahore, Kasur, Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Okara, Sialkot, Narowal, Shakargarh, and several other districts are expected to remain closed during the strike.
The association says petrol pump owners and dealers are united and will continue their protest until their demands are addressed. Their key demands include an increase in dealers’ profit margins and a resolution to concerns regarding the proposed daily pricing mechanism for petroleum products.
The strike could affect fuel availability in various parts of the country if negotiations between the government and dealer representatives do not lead to a resolution before the planned shutdown.
