Bank of Punjab Acts on MediaBites Report, Fixes ATM Privacy Flaw at Barki Road Branch Within Weeks
A ground report published on September 8 flagged a shared entrance at Bank of Punjab, Paragon, Barki Road, used by ATM and branch customers. The bank fixed it, added a disability slope, and set a standard others should follow.

Bank of Punjab’s Paragon City branch on Barki Road has separated its ATM booth and added a disability slope weeks after a MediaBites ground report flagged the design flaw.
When MediaBites published its Barki Road banking assessment on September 8, 2026, one finding stood out at Bank of Punjab’s Paragon City branch: the ATM and the bank shared a single entrance, leaving customers using the cash machine with no privacy whatsoever.
It was a design flaw hiding in plain sight on one of Lahore’s fastest-growing commercial corridors.
What happened next was not expected.
Within weeks, the branch had been physically reconfigured. The ATM booth now has its own separate entrance. The path to the bank branch is independent. A dedicated slope for customers with disabilities has been constructed, a facility that was absent in the original visit.
No press release. No announcement. Just action.
The credit sits squarely with Zafar Masud, President and CEO of Bank of Punjab, whose hands-on engagement with ground-level operations is clearly more than a talking point. In a sector where institutional inertia is the norm and customer feedback rarely travels beyond a complaint register, this response was swift, substantive and visible.
MediaBites is republishing the original Barki Road report today. The findings on MCB, Meezan Bank, Bank Al Habib, UBL and Faysal Bank remain unchanged and on the record. The leadership of those institutions now has the same information Bank of Punjab’s team acted on.
Bank of Punjab has shown what a responsive bank looks like in 2026.
The others know where the bar is.

A Personal Account — Barki Road Banking Report
MediaBites conducted an informal but honest assessment of several banks on and around Barki Road, Lahore — one of the city’s most rapidly developing corridors with a mixed customer base of professionals, military families, and emerging middle-class residents.
Bank of Punjab, Paragon City Barki Road ATM success rate: 8 out of 10.
‘System downtime observed. The most significant design flaw is a shared entrance for the ATM and the branch, which completely eliminates privacy for ATM users. The team is active and brand-conscious. A busy branch that needs a physical redesign.’
