KARACHI: The bodies of five members of the same family were found inside a house in a private housing society in Karachi’s Gulshan-e-Hadeed area.
According to rescue officials, the deceased included a husband, his wife, their two young daughters, and his sister.
Rescue officials identified the deceased as 40-year-old Shahzaib, his 40-year-old wife Saba, their five-year-old daughter Aizal, their four-year-old daughter Arya, and 18-year-old Shamaila, Shahzaib’s sister.

Officials said efforts were underway to determine the cause of their deaths.
Following the discovery, the Inspector General of Sindh sought a report from the Deputy Inspector General of Police regarding the incident.
A handwritten note was also recovered from the scene, reportedly explaining the circumstances that led to the family’s decision.
According to the note, the family alleged that their relatives had been harassing them and accusing them of killing their father. The note stated that the family had no source of income and had repeatedly asked relatives for financial assistance but was allegedly humiliated instead.
It further alleged that their maternal aunts and paternal uncles had blocked them to prevent them from asking for money, leaving them without support. The note claimed that relatives refused to meet them or provide assistance and that they were turned away when they visited their homes
Sindh Inspector General of Police Javed Alam Odho directed authorities to conduct a transparent and impartial investigation into the incident from all possible angles.
He ordered officials to determine the actual causes of the five deaths and ensure that all legal requirements were fulfilled, including the collection of evidence from the scene and forensic examinations.
The IG also directed authorities to take immediate steps to identify any individuals involved or establish whether criminal elements played a role in the incident.
He further instructed officials to provide regular updates on the progress of the investigation and ensure that all findings were based on verified facts.
