Today, a meeting of the Standing Committee on Finance and Revenue was held at Parliament House, chaired by Senator Saleem Mandviwala. During the meeting, committee members were informed about the government’s decision to include radio fees along with television charges in electricity bills.
According to the Finance Ministry officials, a flat fee of Rs. 50 will now be included in consumer bills, starting immediately. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has prepared a summary, proposing the imposition of Rs. 35 for PTV fees and Rs. 15 for radio fees, effective from July onwards.
These measures were expedited and completed by the Ministry of Finance in response to recent recommendations from the Senate Committee of Finance and Revenue.
Additionally, the committee was apprised that an amount of Rs. 35 billion has been allocated for the provision of subsidized food items at Utility Stores. Out of this sum, Rs. 5 billion has been earmarked for the Prime Minister’s Ramazan Relief Package.
Furthermore, the Finance Ministry officials presented the latest incentives for the IT sector. They disclosed that Rs. 10 billion has been allocated for the PM’s laptop scheme, and tech companies have been granted permission to retain 25 percent of their export earnings.
