Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) has set its sights on drawing in more tourists from Pakistan, revealing plans for an ambitious growth strategy in the coming year. In a recent announcement, DET outlined its goal, aligning with the forward-looking Dubai Economic Agenda 2033. This initiative aims to solidify Dubai’s position among the world’s top three cities for both business and leisure.
The press release highlighted Dubai’s successful performance in welcoming international visitors, surpassing pre-pandemic numbers by hosting 13.9 million visitors from January to October 2023. Notably, Pakistan ranks among Dubai’s top 10 source markets, contributing significantly with 254,000 overnight visitors during this period.
DET’s proactive approach involves impactful workshops for tour operators across key Pakistani cities like Islamabad, Faisalabad, and Sialkot. These sessions focus on establishing direct connections with the Pakistani travel industry, empowering operators with in-depth destination knowledge. The aim is to position Dubai as the preferred destination for various traveler segments, including leisure, corporate, and incentive groups.
The department’s 2023 “Chalo Dubai” campaign intensified efforts in Pakistan, emphasizing Dubai’s diverse entertainment, gastronomy, and lifestyle offerings. With exclusive Urdu content, the campaign specifically targeted the Pakistani market, showcasing Dubai’s unique experiences and family-friendly atmosphere.
Bader Ali Habib, Regional Head at DET, emphasized the significance of these workshops in creating personalized experiences for visitors. He underscored Dubai’s immersive offerings, aiming to establish a deep connection with each traveler.
Direct flights from eight Pakistani cities to Dubai demonstrate the city’s commitment to facilitating convenient travel for Pakistani visitors, fostering a sense of belonging and comfort.
DET’s focus extends beyond families, targeting stop-over travelers and highlighting Dubai as the ideal transit destination to the West. Looking ahead to 2024, DET plans to expand its efforts, forging more media and trade partnerships to offer new and unforgettable itineraries for Pakistani visitors.
The overarching goal remains clear: to ensure every visit to Dubai becomes an unforgettable experience for Pakistanis, solidifying the city’s place as their second home.
