Pakistan Digital Authority strengthens its education and innovation leadership by appointing a policy veteran with two decades of experience connecting skills, technology, and national workforce development.

The Pakistan Digital Authority (PDA) has appointed Dr. Henna Karamat Durrani as Executive Director of the National Digital Innovation Lab (Education), bringing on board one of Pakistan’s most experienced voices in education policy, digital skills development, and institutional reform.
Dr. Henna brings 21 years of experience spanning public policy, curriculum development, technical education, and national workforce strategy. In her new role, she will lead digital transformation initiatives in Pakistan’s education sector, drive innovation programming, and strengthen the country’s readiness to compete in an increasingly digital global economy.
Her most recent position was Chief Skills Development Officer at the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB), under the Federal Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication. There, she led flagship Prime Minister’s initiatives including the National Semiconductor Human Resource Development Program and the AI for Her Pavilion, two programs designed to position Pakistan at the frontier of emerging technology and gender-inclusive digital workforce development.
As Secretary of the National Committee on ICT Skills and Capacity Development, Dr. Henna played a central role in aligning government, academia, and industry around shared national workforce priorities, a function that speaks directly to the cross-sector collaboration her new position will demand.
Before PSEB, she served at the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC), under the Federal Ministry of Education and Professional Training, where she contributed to national skills policy and reformed technical and vocational education across Pakistan.
A Master Trainer in education with deep expertise in curriculum design, Dr. Henna has worked with leading national and international organizations throughout her career. She is also a consistent champion of gender inclusion in education and technology, with a sustained focus on connecting skills development to employment outcomes and economic growth.
Dr. Henna holds a PhD, with doctoral research conducted at Michigan State University, USA.
