PESHAWAR: At least 12 people were killed and 15 others injured after heavy rains triggered roof and wall collapses across several districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) said on Tuesday.

According to the PDMA, the deceased include six men, five children, and one woman, while the injured comprise eight men, two women, and five children. The severe weather also damaged 14 houses, with 13 partially damaged and one completely destroyed.
The incidents were reported in Peshawar, Khyber, Mardan, Buner, Bajaur, Lower Chitral, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Torghar, and Kurram districts.
The PDMA said it is coordinating with Rescue 1122, district administrations, and other relevant authorities, with relief and rescue operations currently underway in the affected areas.
The Director General of PDMA has directed local administrations to expedite relief efforts and ensure immediate assistance and essential supplies reach affected families.
The authority added that water levels and flow in the province’s rivers and streams remain within normal limits despite the ongoing rains. However, intermittent heavy rainfall is expected to continue until July 23.
The PDMA urged the public to avoid unnecessary travel, stay away from vulnerable tourist destinations, and strictly follow official weather alerts and safety advisories.
