Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) confirmed on Tuesday that two separate attacks targeted King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz International Airport and Najran International Airport, causing injuries and material damage.
The authority said three people sustained minor injuries in the attacks and were transferred to hospital for medical treatment. The extent of structural and operational damage at both airports is being assessed.
In a statement, GACA said it was taking immediate measures to ensure the safety of passengers and staff and to maintain the security of the Kingdom’s civil aviation infrastructure.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attacks. Saudi authorities have not specified the nature of the attacks, though such strikes on southern Saudi airports have historically been linked to cross-border drone and missile fire.
Both airports remain under heightened security protocols as investigations continue.
This is a developing story.
