The raid on the Jakhrani family’s bungalow in DHA Phase VI has also prompted PPP leader Faryal Talpur to seek an inquiry into the police operation, directing the Sindh police chief to establish the facts surrounding the incident.
Talpur, who chairs the Sindh Assembly’s Standing Committee on Home Affairs, stressed that the sanctity of the home must be respected and that injustice against any citizen would not be tolerated.
Drugs allegedly recovered from suspect, bungalow
According to the first information report (FIR) registered at Karachi’s Darakhshan police station, police initially stopped a motorcyclist near the Clock Tower area on suspicion and allegedly recovered 62 grams of cocaine and 106 grams of crystal methamphetamine from him.
The FIR states that the suspect identified Azad Jakhrani as the alleged owner of the drugs and told investigators that more narcotics were stored inside a bungalow.
Police subsequently searched the property on the suspect’s identification. According to the FIR, officers found crystal methamphetamine wrapped in plastic in a cupboard, along with 22 grams of cocaine. The recovered crystal methamphetamine weighed more than one kilogram, the report stated.
The bungalow’s watchman reportedly told investigators that its owner was living abroad.
Azad Jakhrani was not present during the raid and was not arrested. Authorities have registered a case under the relevant provisions of the Sindh Control of Narcotic Substances Act, 2024, and are pursuing further action to arrest him.
The allegations have not been established in court.

Aijaz Jakhrani calls for inquiry
Reacting to the operation, MNA Mir Aijaz Hussain Jakhrani alleged that police raided his family home under the cover of darkness, violating the sanctity and privacy of the residence.
He said officers informed him that the operation was carried out based on the identification of a suspect in police custody.
The lawmaker said he had already distanced himself from his brother but maintained that the property was their family home. He added that he had informed Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar and Inspector General of Police Javed Alam Odho about the incident.
Jakhrani called for an inquiry into the raid and action against any officials found responsible for wrongdoing.
Faryal Talpur seeks report
Talpur has asked the Sindh police chief to submit a report clarifying the circumstances surrounding the operation.
Her intervention follows the lawmaker’s allegations about how the raid was conducted and calls for authorities to determine whether police followed proper procedures.
The case has brought the alleged drug recovery and the conduct of the police operation into focus, with further action expected as investigators pursue the narcotics allegations and examine the circumstances of the raid.
