Umar Saleem, known for his dynamic energy, quick wit, and unwavering work ethic, has embarked on a significant career shift. After dedicating nearly 13 years to media strategy, planning, and buying at GroupM for a diverse portfolio of multinational and esteemed national brands, he has made the move to media sales and marketing.

Umar’s journey in the media industry commenced with his humble beginnings as an executive at Maxus (GroupM). Over the years, he climbed the corporate ladder, progressing through the ranks to Senior Executive, Manager, and eventually Senior Manager in the Buying department.

Now, Umar Saleem finds himself on the opposite side of the negotiation table, tasked with selling advertising minutes on various channels – a role that mirrors his previous responsibilities as a media buyer.

There is a famous verse by renowned poet Ahmed Faraz,

ہم محبت میں بھی توحید کے قائل ہیں فراز
صرف ایک ہی شخص کو محبوب بنائے رکھا ہے

and Umer Saleem strongly followed his professional career strictly on these lines as he joined GroupM in 2010 (his 1st job) and left the same organization almost after 13 years.

Transitioning roles in the competitive world of media is no small feat, but Umar’s unrelenting passion for the industry and his innate persuasiveness give us reason to believe he will excel in media sales.

Umar Saleem’s commitment to learning is evident in his pursuit of an MBA in Marketing from NCBA while actively working in the field.

MediaBites extends its best wishes to Umar Saleem as he takes on this new and challenging role. We offer our prayers and support for his continued success in all his future endeavors.
