Citizens can now get documents attested and apostilled online and receive their certificates by email, as MOFA moves its consular services into the digital age, effective 12 October 2026.

Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has launched a Digital Attestation System for consular documents, marking a significant shift away from in-person visits for one of the country’s most frequently used government services.
Effective 12 October 2026, applicants can now submit documents for both General Attestation and Apostille Attestation through an official online portal. Once the required process is completed and the prescribed fee is paid, the electronic certificate, known as an e-Certificate, is delivered directly to the applicant via email.

The system is operational across MOFA’s Islamabad headquarters and its Liaison Offices in Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, Quetta, and Gujrat, bringing digital access to applicants across Pakistan’s major cities.
The move is expected to reduce processing time, eliminate the need for multiple in-person visits, and streamline a process that has historically required considerable time and effort from citizens, particularly overseas Pakistanis and professionals requiring attested documents for employment, education, or legal purposes abroad.
Applicants are advised to use the official MOFA online portal to submit their documents and are encouraged to verify the latest instructions and fee structures directly through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website before proceeding.
