Thirty-two years across two of Pakistan’s greatest media houses, and he is still the sharpest sales mind in the room.

From Jang Group‘s sales floor in 1994 to ARY Digital’s President suite in 2005, Faisal Tamanna’s 30-year career defines Pakistani media’s most consistent commercial success.
Faisal Tamanna needs no introduction in Pakistan’s media industry. But for those outside the boardrooms and broadcast towers, here is the short version: he built, sustained, and scaled the revenue backbone of ARY Digital Network, the country’s most commercially formidable private media group.
The story, however, did not begin at ARY.
Before the television towers and the prime-time ratings wars, Tamanna spent eleven years at Jang Group, one of Pakistan’s most storied and demanding media houses, from 1994 to 2005.
It was there, working under the mentorship of Sarmad Ali, one of the veteran pillars of Pakistani media sales, that Tamanna absorbed the craft: how to read a client, how to build trust across an industry that runs on relationships, and how to move in boardrooms without losing the human touch that makes deals actually close.
Those who worked alongside him in those early Karachi years remember a professional who was competent without arrogance, persistent without pressure, and genuinely kind in an industry that can grind both qualities out of people quickly.
Sarmad Ali‘s school of media sales left a visible mark, and Tamanna carried those lessons forward when he moved to ARY Group in 2005, just as Pakistan’s private broadcast television industry was hitting its first major stride.
What followed was one of the more remarkable single-company career arcs in Pakistani media. For twenty years at ARY, Tamanna stayed, built, and rose. He joined when ARY Digital was still sharpening its identity and stayed to watch it become a household name from Karachi to Khyber, from the Gulf diaspora to Pakistani communities across Britain and North America.
His current designation, President, Marketing and Sales, sits at the apex of the network’s commercial function. The role is not ceremonial. Tamanna owns the revenue mandate entirely: advertising sales, brand development, strategic consulting, business plan formulation and the relentless drive to grow digital footprint and website traffic. In a media landscape where content is king, he ensures the kingdom is funded.
His tenure as Senior Group General Manager since November 2010, now entering its sixteenth year, shows institutional depth. Most executives cycle through organizations chasing new titles. Tamanna stayed and deepened, which is rarer and more consequential.
A graduate of the University of Karachi, class of 1990 to 1993, he belongs to a generation of Pakistani media professionals who built the private broadcast industry without a playbook, without a precedent, and without the digital tools today’s executives take for granted.
Through cable-to-satellite transitions, digital disruption, social media fragmentation, and economic cycles that have repeatedly squeezed advertising budgets across Pakistan, ARY’s commercial architecture has held. Tamanna has been at the controls through it all.
Thirty-two years in Pakistani media. Two houses. One unbroken record of performance.
In this industry, that is the biography.
