Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has stopped down payment collection from students under the e-bike scheme, approving monthly installments and expanding the program to others.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has ordered authorities to stop collecting down payments from students under the Chief Minister’s Electric Bike Scheme.
A meeting chaired by Maryam Nawaz agreed on a proposal for students to pay Rs3,000 per month under the scheme.
The meeting also approved expanding the scheme to government employees, the general public and delivery riders.
Officials briefed the meeting that the Punjab government would cover interest and insurance costs for electric bikes. Students will also receive a free helmet and safety rod, along with two days of free training on operating the e-bikes.
The chief minister directed authorities to take steps to ensure that students receive their electric bikes within six weeks.
Maryam Nawaz also ordered that the e-bike portal be opened this week, while reiterating that no down payment should be collected from students under the scheme.
